Special Lecture on Implications of Sea-Level Fluctuations in Lothal, Dholavira, Submerged Dwarka and Ramsetu- Environmental Lessons for the Future by Dr. Rajiv Nigam Ph.D. D.Sc. Former Chief Scientist and Head, Geological Oceanography, CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Dona Paula, Goa was delivered in virtual mode at Tribhuvan College of Environment and Development Sciences, Nalanda University Centre, Neemrana, Rajasthan on 14.12.2023. Dr. Nigam highlighted the impacts of climate change and associated phenomena like sea-level variations as the reason for the submergence of ancient coastal cities. He also presented with conclusive evidences that how once the flourished city like Dholavira, along the Gujarat coast was devastated by Tsunami in the past. Further, he stressed over that such important archaeological sites should be developed as the tourist destinations to increase the awareness about our rich ancient heritage. Dr. Nigam suggested that the students and faculty should visit the nearest archaeological site like Rakhigarhi in Harayana. Prof. J. K. Garg, Director, TEDS. presided over the function. Dr. S. K. Chaturvedi introduced the chief guest and Prof. Seema Mishra proposed the vote of thanks.
