In fact, we at the Tribhuvan College, one of the renowned environmental science colleges in Neemrana, believe that if we can strike a merger between the power of technological wonders like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and environment management, the goal would no longer remain far-fetched. Today, in this blog post, let us delve deeper into the topic and see how AI can help mankind with environmental management.

 

  • Overseeing the Ecosystems:

Speaking about environmental management, we cannot overlook the importance of maintaining the harmony of our otherwise diverse ecosystems. However, one hurdle that conservationists are facing today is with respect to the lack of access to organized data, which makes it difficult to initiate decisions around:

  • Smartly managing the habitat

  • Carrying out restoration activities

  • Taking care of wildlife

This adds to the threat our ecosystems are facing today. This is where AI can be introduced to read and analyze data findings, which are generally a result of satellite imagery, drones, and ground sensors. This shall act as a major development in the area of environmental management.

This is where assistance from AI is expected to work miraculously well by pushing the AI algorithms to detect natural calamities early on so that a considerable level of loss of life and property can be avoided.

It is equally important to note that AI proves helpful in carrying out evacuations, distribution of resources to affected areas, and pre-planning in terms of disaster management.

 

  • Tackling Waste Management:

In current times, waste management continues to act as a massive obstacle. It is especially so because of the excess pressure the landfills are experiencing and the carbon emissions that are being released into the environment. This is working as a by-product of all the waste that is failing to decompose in these yards.

Likewise, AI is also expected to help in terms of monitoring greenhouse gas emissions. The icing on the cake is that AI helps by providing solutions that can help reduce carbon footprints. This becomes possible by developing renewable energy sources and optimizing energy distribution, something AI can help concerned bodies arrive at.

This can only and only become a reality when the same is designed, keeping relevant data and concepts as the starting point of policy formation. However, with all the unorganized and raw data doing the rounds, policy formation becomes a herculean task.
